Detroit hosted the second Triple Crown event of the season. The two heat races and one main event format was replaced by three ten-minute main events.  The two Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamahas of Mitchell Oldenburg and Justin Cooper displayed some great racing during some heated battles in the main events.  Cooper went 3-5-3 to finish fourth overall.  Mitchell Oldenburg’s finishes of 6-6-8 gave him seventh overall.

Justin Cooper and Mitchell Oldenburg lined up at the opening round to the Eastern Regional series in Minneapolis on Saturday.  Justin’s rookie season in 2018 had been cut short due to injury, and after a successful outdoor season, he returned to supercross eager to make his mark at the season opener.  He ended the night with his first supercross podium.  Mitchell Oldenburg finished second in his heat race and took a sixth-place finish in the main after a thirteenth-place start.

Rain fell hard at the fifth round of the Monster Energy Supercross series in San Diego.  Qualifying was reduced to one practice and the main events were cut by five minutes.  Nichols faced some challenges in main event after going down in the mud more than once.  He finished tenth.  Ferrandis was running in third when a mechanical ended his race early.  With some luck on his side, he still finished seventh after having lapped so many riders.
