After a supercross championship in the bag, Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha was eager to start first round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series. The first moto escaped the rain but the second moto gave the riders an extra challenge: mud. The Star riders fared well on the challenging track: taking both holeshots and a moto win. Justin Cooper took second overall, Colt Nichols was third, and Dylan Ferrandis was fourth. The team’s rookie, Ty Masterpool, made his pro debut and finished his first race with a fourteenth overall. Unfortunately, Mitchell Oldenburg missed the first round after sustaining a third degree burn in Las Vegas.
